Glock Rifle British Trials - Over the weekend, outrage in Europe over trials with British Army rifles led to much speculation about Glock making the rifle.

While it's no secret that the British are looking to pick up an AR rifle to equip their new ranger units and special operations division in lieu of the problematic Bulgur SA80/L85 Enfield (i.e., which

Like bullpups, anyway?) Sean Odinson, a former British Army sniper and defense blogger, posted allegedly leaked images of a Glock-branded AR platform on Saturday. He of course he flew over the Atlantic and appeared everywhere Glock strapped over the weekend.

Why Don't Glocks Have Hammers?

Dubbed the GR-115F, which will likely end up being the ID of the troll who faked it all together, the carbine adds fuel to the ongoing fire Glock has entered the long gun market.

The GR-115F is said to be part of a tender for the British Army for a new alternative individual weapon system rifle for rangers and special operations units. (Images: screenshot via YouTube)

The cabinets and BUIS are Magpul while the receivers are a little more geometrically refined and have both surface controls. The barrel length appears to run on the short side and is fitted with a suppressor, which ties into the contract that the gun is adapted to operate with a suppressor. The handguard uses the same number of M-LOK slots, which as NGearsays in the video below, is also perfect for AIWS racing. Photos of a possible Glock M4-like carbine stirred up the interweb this week. The images were leaked by an anonymous person associated with the British Army's Personal Alternative Weapon System (AIWS) trials. Yesterday, Glock officially confirmed the carbine's existence to Amoland News.

As reported earlier this week, the British Army's new Special Operations Division is looking into weapons to replace the aging and less-than-ideal Enfield SAR-80/L-85 bullgap rifle. Some British special operations units are known to use M4 platforms and the specification for the new weapon called for an Armalite-style rifle. Officially known as the Alternative Private Weapons System, the new carbines will equip the four Ranger Battalions that make up the Special Operations Division.

This rifle has been rumored to have been around since the Glock patents were published last year. We talked about it and you can see the patents here. Which of these patents are included in the RF-115F is not known for certain, although we can make some educated guesses. For example, the quick-release handguard apparently indicates that the new rifle features Glock's adjustable gas system, which was one of the patents.

Other Glock-patented features appear to include the geometry of the upper and lower receivers, bolt catch, magazine catch, charging handle, and barrel rail interface.

So let's break it down a little bit because that's what we do. Glock says the photo is from "

.” All of which means we're looking at a firearm made specifically for court-martial. It's not for public sale. But it could just mean that Glock isn't marketing a selective-fire option.

Or it could be that Glock does not include this optic, which is certainly optimized for current testing. Gluck said simply that "

Is of an out-of-stock product. That doesn't mean they don't plan to release a civilian semi-auto version down the road. Even if they didn't intend to, the excitement generated by these photos is sure to turn on a light bulb in someone's head.

Given Glock's reputation and huge number of dedicated Glock fans, this seems like a no-brainer. I guess we'll see. But, for now, we know this prototype exists. It would be hard to believe that Glock has put all the effort into not exploiting it commercially.
